Electronic Prescribing Service

Electronic prescribing was rolled out to the surgery in February 2017. This service allows us to send your prescription electronically to a pharmacy of your choosing and means you will not have to come and collect the prescription in order to take it to the pharmacy.

COVID-19 Booster Vaccination for Eligible Patients

If you are eligible for a covid booster vaccination you can have it at any of the numerous walk-in clinics being held across Suffolk. Details of the walk-in clinics can be found at www.sneevaccine.org.uk.

The Government has announced that from 17 May, people can demonstrate their COVID-19 vaccine status for travelling purposes, by accessing the NHS app, or by calling 119. People are also strongly advised not to contact their GP Surgery to prove their vaccine status.

If you do not have the NHS app – search for NHS App in your device. For help: http://www.nhs.uk/nhsapp

If you do not have an NHS login, you will be guided through validating your email address, mobile number and identity.

Our reception staff cannot assist you in this matter.

If you have had your COVID vaccination outside of an NHS provider, this will not be accessible via the NHS App. NHS Digital are currently working on a solution, this is outside the surgeries control.

‘Do not contact your GP surgery about your COVID-19 vaccination status. GPs cannot provide letters showing your COVID-19 vaccination status

COVID-19 vaccinations are now available to adults identified by the JCVI (Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation) as being at highest risk of catching the disease and of suffering serious complication COVID-19. If you are eligible, a member of our team will be contacting you to book an appointment. We also require your consent for vaccination.

This vaccination will be free of charge and our highest priority is delivering the vaccines to eligible patients as soon as the vaccine becomes available.

Through vaccination of those at highest risk, we aim to help protect individuals from becoming unwell with the COVID-19 disease.

A leaflet on COVID-19 vaccination is on the following link – please click here to read

Please read the detailed guidance at:

www.nhs.uk/covidvaccination

During the vaccination delivery, we will maintain the range of measures we have in place to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19. Staff involved in administering the vaccine will be wearing personal protective equipment and will adhere to all infection prevention control measures.

Please click here to read, download and print your consent form. Failure to attend without a signed consent will result in us being unable to vaccinate you. If you are unable to download a consent form please collect one from your own GP surgery before the day of your appointment.

Further information regarding the COVID vaccination can also be found at https://sneevaccine.org.uk/

Welcome to the Angel Hill Surgery

Angel Hill Surgery is a forward thinking General Medical Practice located in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. We are constantly striving to provide the very best medical services. We have over 14000 patients and aim to ensure that our care is individualised to your needs.

HALF DAY CLOSURE – From 12:30 to 18:30 on Wednesday 29th June 2022, this practice will be closed for important clinical education and training purposes:

Emergency cover will be provided, please telephone 111 to access these services:

· Telephone triage

· Face-to-face appointments at Drovers House in Bury St Edmunds or Unity Healthcare (Greenfields Way), Haverhill

Repeat prescription requests will not be dealt with during these times so please ensure sufficient notice is given to enable your practice to provide these for you prior to practice closure dates.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS – For patient safety, we no longer accept repeat prescription requests over the phone. Please request your medication via email at wsccg.angelhill.dispensary@nhs.net

APPOINTMENTS – To safeguard our staff and other patients, all appointments will be triaged on the telephone first, please phone the surgery on 01284 753008. Please do not attend the surgery unless you have been booked an appointment. During the pandemic Angel Hill Surgery has continued to see patients face to face where clinically appropriate. Where appropriate video consultations can be made with the clinician. Please also consider using e-Consult found on our Home page.

COMMUNICATION –  To request a repeat prescription, please email wsccg.angelhill.dispensary@nhs.net If you would like to contact reception/administration, such as sick notes to be emailed, blood test results, please email wsccg.angelhill.receptionadmin@nhs.net to request this.

SOCIAL DISTANCING/FACE MASK – Please do not attend the surgery unless you have spoken with a clinician who has booked you an appointment. When attending the surgery, please wear a face mask or covering and observe all social distancing rules.

SERVICES – Due to the pandemic, Angel Hill Surgery will be concentrating on catching up with the backlog of patients that now need to be seen for core Primary Care Services. To allow time for this, from 1st August 2020 we will no longer provide a travel vaccination service.

Please see Ear Care Leaflet for further information on self care.

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT – The government have launched a new website for patients to use in finding out what help they can get if affected by coronavirus. This service is available to all patients who are seeking advice and guidance on the topics such as: feeling unsafe, going in to work, paying bills or being unemployed, getting food, having somewhere to live, mental health and wellbeing.

PRESCRIPTIONS – We are receiving very large numbers of requests for medication – much more than we would normally expect. Many of the requests are a long way ahead of when they are due.  Please DO NOT order medication too soon and please do not stockpile. Patients who are ordering too much or too early are putting the health of others at risk. We are receiving a lot of medication requests on paper – we want to reduce that as much as possible to protect our staff.  We would prefer online requests or email to wsccg.angelhill.dispensary@nhs.net – obviously our staff shortages mean that answering the phone to take medication requests will take them away from other tasks.
